The World Food Programme (WFP) and CEFA are organizing the first Dar es Salaam Farmers Market. The purpose of this initiative is to create a space where the Dar es Salaam community will have the chance to meet local food producers and buy their products.

The Farmers Market (FM) will focus on two key words: local and natural. The aim is to offer local food producers the possibility of showcasing their top-quality products, with the intent of supporting their businesses.

The intention of the farmers market team is to set-up something unique, where visitors will be able to find the best that Tanzania offers in terms of food grown, cooked or produced locally and naturally. Since the space available is limited, the organizing committee will probably have to operate a selection among the vendors that will submit their participation forms. The choice will be made on the basis of the quality and uniqueness of the products presented.

All the products brought to the market are expected to have a proper quality, this means that the products should be fresh, un-expired, un-spoilt and the safety of consumers is taken as top priority.

The date of the Market is Saturday 4th May, 2013; the Market will open to the public at 10:00am and will close at 16:00pm. The SET UP for participants begins at 08:00am. The participation fee will be TZS 30,000.

Each vendor will be provided with a plastic table and two chairs. Vendors are allowed to bring any other display materials or appliances they might need. Vendors will be responsible for cleaning up the space assigned to them, once the Market will end.
If you are interested in participating in the event as a vendor or if you know food producers or farmers groups that you think would be interested in taking part to this first event, please contact the organizing team (see contact details below)

Please keep in mind that the deadline for the submission of the participation form is the 22nd of April.
